Comic Market - KOMIKE

Hi! How are you doing?

One of famous Manga (Comic) event is KOMIKE (short of Comic Market).

The biggest KOMIKE is opening for 3 days in Tokyo Big Sight from 29th Dec.

KOMIKE is the biggest market event for DOJINSHI (coterie magazine) in the world.

They open twice a year, June and December.

As first day, yesterday, 150 thousand people came there, lots OTAKU enjoy buying comic books or goods and looking cosplayer (costume player).

If you have chance around June or December in Japan, this is the one of choice to go!!

Christmas in Japan

Hi! Past Christmas, everyone looks busy toward the end of year in Japan.

This year also lots Japanese people had a Christmas party even though lots of us is not Christian.

Of course, 

Christmas in Japan is more like a festival and a commercial matter for many people, rather than a sacred event.

Today, I introduce about Christmas in Japan.

About Christmas Holiday

We don't have holiday from work for Christmas time but some school finish around that time for winter holiday. 

Of course lots restaurants and shops open as usual. 

About Christmas Dinner

We don't have traditional one like lots christian countries have but lots of restaurant have "Christmas special dinner menu" like course foods with steak, chicken, turkey etc..

KFC is also very popular in Christmas time. Specially on 24th, most of KFC shops stop usual work, then just keep cooking "Christmas barrel" for reserved customer.

Some family have Sushi or "Yakiniku" whatever something special on Christmas Eve.

About Christmas Cake

Also cakes here are not like Christmas pudding, Stollen it or lots Christian countries have.

Most standard Christmas cakes here are cream filled fancy cake, cream looks simulated snow and Santa Claus on there. They are easy access for everyone like local convenience store around 23rd to 25th.

Lots cake shops sell special attractive Christmas cakes. some of them very difficult to get it because of selling in a limited quantity.

If you have a chance to visit Japan around Christmas time, you can enjoy Japanese way Christmas and filled with lots Christmas decorations in town and beautiful cakes sample in a department store or cake shops.

About Christmas Present

Kids are mostly believe Santa Claus brings present for good boys and girls a night before Christmas day until they are around early elementary school here. 

Trading present among friends or group is another popular way in lots Christmas party for school kids. 

But we don't usually learn as birthday of Jesus.

It seems separate "Santa Claus" and Christian religion here.

About Christmas Party

In Japan, lots people spend Christmas with friends after become teenager.

Of course kids spend with parents and old people don't do anything except giving present for kids.

Having Christmas dinner, drinking, staying nice hotel and trading expensive high brand stuffs among couple in economic bubble time.

Still for couple, spending time together is very popular here, but lots young generation start to spend with friends like festival way.

BAKE Cheese Tart - Popular Sweers in Tokyo

Hello!! I will introduce today so popular sweets here.

Japanese is told who love waiting in a queue.

Queues are seen in many parts of Japan today lol

BAKE is cheese tart shop originally from Hokkaido(North island in Japan).

The secrets behind the popularity of BAKE are, of course tasty, good price and fresh!! 

They baked tarts at shop everyday and once you walk around there, you will be instinctively drawn toward a queue by fascinating sweet smell.

It is fantastic to enjoy cheese tart that is fresh from the oven after waiting outside of shop.

BAKE makes for customer to provide fresh tart, but there are some way to enjoy it.

Only best by 4 days in refrigerator including the date we buy, but cold tart is also nice taste like condensed cheese, heat them up by toaster then fresh taste is back again.

Also freezing them is another wonderful enjoying for that tart. They become like cheese cake ice cream and can keep about a month in freezer.

One Piece Run!! - Anime Event

Do you watch ONE PIECE??

It is one of popular japanese anime, and yes! One Piese is very popular among men and women of all ages in Japan!

One Piece sometimes open associated event like exhibitions, temporary restaurant etc.

Maybe some people who are reading this now saw real-size ships in somewhere by their event.

I want to introduce you new type of future event this time.

That is One Piece Run that is 5.5km run in the original course with lots photo-point and come with original goods and after party!

It started in Taipei 2015, then come to Okinawa, Japan in Mar.20th sun. 2016.

If you have plan to visit Okinawa around that time, how about join One Piece Run??

Decorated Handmade Lunch - CHARABEN

Do you know CHARABEN??

We have a culture mother (mostly mother does in Japan) makes lunch for kids when they are students specially school don't have a lunch service as other countries do.

CHARABEN is a lunch that decorated like anime characters, animals, car etc. that starts late '90 or '00, by some mothers.

Mothers have always try their kids to be healthy eater, sometimes mushing up for changes taste, shapes like carrots, green pepper.

Beginning of Charaben it was easy stuff like "octopus sausage", "rabbit apple".

But after early '00, Charaben culture spread more and some mothers start to make more artistic way like these.

Of course some working mothers say "I don't have enough time doing this!!" but still lots mothers quit working when they have babies as housewives on that time in Japan.

In these years Charaben culture a bit slow down, but still popular among kids of course!!

World Premier Theater

One of very famous culture in Japan is ANIME as you know.

Dragon ball, Naruto, Onepiece, Draemon, Hello Kitty of course very popular here.

In Japan, lots people grow with anime and comics since they were kids.

When I was kid, Doraemon, Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa were very popular among us.

I want to introduce one of popular anime series when I was a kid today.

It was called World Premier Theater.

Maybe it is not make a sense, but you will get it if you see these!!

Hidi is my favorite anime when I was kid and its still not old stories when I watched them again these days. Until then, I really want to watch all episode one more time!!!

Totally forgot other series but these day we can check whole title on website like Wikipedia.
